The Grammy Award for “Best Global Music Album” was won by Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s fusion band “Shakti” at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards 2024 in Los Angeles, which was a proud event for India. This Moment, their most recent album, was given the honour.

By winning the Grammy for Best Global Music Performance for his work on “Pashto,” which also featured Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Rakesh Chaurasia, Zakir put another feather to his cap.

Rakesh Chaurasia, a brilliant flute musician, celebrated his second Grammy award, while Hussain celebrated his third GRAMMY success.

Details of the album “This Moment”

Eight songs from the Grammy-winning album “This Moment” were written by a gifted group of musicians that included John McLaughlin, Ganesh Rajagopalan, Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain, and V Selvaganesh.

Mahadevan dedicated the honor to his wife and thanked his team, the Almighty, friends, family, and India in his acceptance speech. The accomplishments of the performers align with India’s increasing sway in the world music arena.
