At Gokulpuri Metro Station, a portion of the boundary wall collapsed on Thursday, injuring multiple people. Vinod Kumar was the only one to pass away; four other people were treated after being admitted to GTB Hospital.

The matter was handled quickly by the Delhi Fire Service and the local police. Three to four people were hurt, according to DCP North East’s Joy Tirkey, with one person critically stuck behind debris.

Rescue efforts at the Gokulpuri Station

Cranes and JCBs are being used in debris disposal operations. Local law enforcement and metro employees are actively participating in the rescue effort. About the incident, a case has been filed.

 

The 53-year-old Karawal Nagar resident Vinod Kumar was pronounced brought dead out of the five people who were admitted to GTB Hospital. Medical care is being given to the injured.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that the family of the deceased will receive an ex gratia compensation of Rs 15 lakh. Rs 50,000 will be given for minor injuries, and Rs 2.5 lakh will be given for major injuries.

A manager and a junior engineer from the civil department of DMRC have been suspended while an investigation is conducted in reaction to the terrible incident.
