Arunachal

China has sparked controversy once more by revealing a list of thirty new names for different locations in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and renaming it to ‘Zangnan’ . India has firmly opposed this measure, which is intended to assert territorial claims.

China Renames Places in Arunachal Pradesh

The list of renamed locations, which includes residential neighbourhoods, rivers, and mountains, was made public by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. China has made previous attempts to rename locations within Indian territory.

India’s Reaction

: Promptly rejecting China’s claims, India’s Ministry of External Affairs affirmed that Arunachal Pradesh is an essential component of India. China’s assertions, according to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, are “ludicrous” and Arunachal’s position as an Indian state remains unchanged despite name changes.

Diplomatic Standoff

The two nations’ long-standing border issues have gotten worse as a result of China renaming certain locations. India has taken measures to protect its territory by sustaining a robust military presence along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

In conclusion, the renaming of locations in Arunachal by China is perceived as a provocative move meant to undermine India’s sovereignty. But India is not changing its position; it still maintains that Arunachal Pradesh is an essential component of India. In order to settle border conflicts and preserve regional peace while tensions remain, diplomatic measures will be essential.
