Renowned actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who played Roshan Sodhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has accused Asit Kumar Modi, the show’s producer, of harassing her sexually.Jennifer brought a sexual harassment lawsuit against Jatin Ramani, Sohil Ramani, and Asit Kumar Modi last year.She later approached the Maharashtra government for help in her quest for justice, and as a result, a Local Complaints Committee was established.
Verdict
The committee recently decided in Jennifer Mistry’s favor, directing Asit Kumar Modi to pay ₹5 lakh as compensation and settle Jennifer’s outstanding debts.In addition, Asit was ordered to pay an additional sum of money, roughly ₹25–30 lakh, as restitution for willfully withholding Jennifer’s payment.
Under the terms of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act of 2013, Jennifer’s claims were supported by a considerable body of evidence, and on February 15, 2024, the verdict was rendered.
