A horrifying mass shooting incident occurred in the otherwise placid city of Lewiston, Maine, shattering the calm. Just before 7 o’clock in the evening, the terrifying incident started, leaving at least 22 people dead and nearly 60 injured.

Suspect Still at Large

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office immediately requested the public’s assistance amidst the commotion. They posted alarming images of the guy with a firearm in his hand and ready to fire on Facebook.The ominous message revealed that the individual responsible remained at large, heightening the sense of apprehension within the community.

Prompt Medical Assistance

With promptitude, Lewiston’s Central Maine Medical Center triggered its emergency procedures. They referred to the incident as a “mass casualty, mass shooter event” and worked closely with nearby hospitals to handle the surge of people in need of urgent medical attention.

White House Briefing

The serious news reached the top levels of the administration. US President Joe Biden was briefed on the tragic events in Lewiston, Maine, demonstrating his commitment to remaining informed as the situation continued to unfold.

Targeting Numerous Sites

A local restaurant, a Walmart distribution center, and a bowling alley were among the several locations where emergency reaction crews raced to the scene of the terrible disaster. 

Intensive Manhunt in Maine

The disturbing incident prompted the mobilization of a large-scale law enforcement effort. In an effort to find the offender, who was eventually identified as Robert Card, He was just released from a mental health facility after he reported having hallucinations. He was formerly a firearms trainer in the US Army Reserve .  He was found after hundreds of law enforcement personnel tirelessly searched the state of Maine for him.

Shelter-in-Place Directives

Authorities in Lewiston and the neighboring town of Lisbon issued orders for citizens to remain indoors during the crisis. While the situation was still uncertain and the community was still in shock and grief, it was decided that this preventive measure was necessary to protect public safety.
