Led by A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) achieved a historic victory and dedicated their triumph to the martyrs of Telangana. Reddy promised to give the opposition plenty of room in the government and guaranteed the restoration of democracy in the area.

Revanth Reddy’s Victory

Revanth Reddy described the verdict as a resounding sign of the people’s willingness to unseat Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) during his first press conference following the stunning electoral performance. The head of Congress acknowledged the discontent among the populace with the current administration.

Rahul Gandhi’s Support: A Game-Changer

Revanth Reddy thanked Rahul Gandhi for supporting him and giving him the vital assistance he needed to win. The campaign was significantly shaped by the powerful rallies and appearances of Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi’s 21-day stay in Telangana and the 4,000-kilometer Bharat Jodo Yatra highlighted the Gandhi family’s ties to the region.

Together with AICC incharge Manikrao Thakare, state leaders Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, D. Sreedharbabu, and Madhu Yaskhi Goud were credited with the victory.

Caste Factor and Local Connect

Many within the Congress believe that caste dynamics played a role in Reddy’s favor. His potential elevation to the chief minister’s role would align with the trend of Reddys winning the Telugu state (formerly united Andhra Pradesh) for the Congress party. Reddy’s oratorical skills and local connect seemed to resonate, especially against the perception of KCR as a distant “farm-house CM.”

The Congress victory in Telangana reflects a combination of strategic planning, influential leadership, and a response to public sentiment against the incumbent government.
