Oh Young-soo, a South Korean actor best known for his part in the Netflix comedy “Squid Game,” was found guilty on Friday of sexual misconduct, according to a local court. Despite winning a Golden Globe in 2022, his reputation was damaged by claims that he had assaulted a lady in 2017.

Oh was given an eight-month prison term with a two-year suspension by the Seongnam Branch of the Suwon District Court. He also needs to complete 40 hours of lessons on sexual violence. Oh first refuted the allegations, but on March 15, 2024, he was found guilty following a second investigation.

Oh Young is accused of inappropriately touching and kissing a woman on the cheek in Daegu in 2017. These incidences are the basis for the charges. The Suwon District Court claims that these crimes were committed while he was visiting a remote location for a theatrical production.

Reaction & Repercussions

Oh is said to have kept silent throughout the hearing and to be planning an appeal of the decision. Nonetheless, the entertainment business has experienced consequences as a result of his role in the case. His role in a future South Korean movie was cut, and he was left off any casting recommendations.

In conclusion, Oh Young-soo’s conviction for sexual assault has garnered a lot of attention and placed doubt on his highly regarded career following the success of “Squid Game.”
