The recent assassination of Akram Khan Ghazi, the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has drawn attention to a string of deliberate killings occurring throughout South Asia. In Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, unknown assailants killed Akram Khan Ghazi, a well-known LeT member with a history of anti-Indian conduct. This attack is part of a pattern of targeted murders carried out by different terror groups that operate from the other side of the border.

Killings of LeT Operators:

Shehrzad Ali Khan (Sunday):

  • Beheaded body discovered close to Pakistan’s Line of Control.
  • the mastermind of the terrorist incident in 2018.

Abu Qasim, also known as Riyaz Ahmad (September):

  • Inside a mosque in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, he was shot and killed.
  • principal organizer of the terror assault in Dhangri.

Syed Khalid Raza(February)

He was shot and killed in Karachi by unidentified assailants.

Former commander of the Al-Badr Mujahideen.

Internal conflicts and investigation

Pakistani services are actively probing into the possibility of local rival groups or internal disputes within the terror groups being involved in these assassinations.

Security Implication

:The targeted assassinations draw attention to the difficulties of regional security and the possibility of internal conflicts among these terrorist groups, even though there isn’t any obvious indication of increased threats to neighbouring countries.
