East Bengal lost to Kerala Blasters 2-1 at Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday, their third straight defeat in their most recent ISL-X game. With just four points from five games, Carles Cuadrat’s club is now in tenth in the standings following the loss.

Kerala Blasters’ Commanding Opening

From the start, Kerala Blasters showed a tremendous sense of organization and determination. Daisuke Sakai gave the visitors the early lead, demonstrating the success of their efforts. The Japanese attacker was put up by Adrian Luna’s accurate through pass as Blasters launched a quick counterattack. Sakai skillfully scored past Prabhsukhan Singh Gill, the goalie for East Bengal, after outmaneuvering his defender with a step-over move.

The Lost Chances in East Bengal

East Bengal had multiple opportunities in the second half to tie the score. They did not find the back of the net, despite an excellent showing. Goalkeeper Sachin Suresh of the Blasters denied Cleiton twice between the 83rd and 85th minutes as the East Bengal attacker tried to score from the penalty spot. Suresh’s movement off the line rendered his first save invalid. But after Silva missed a penalty shot, he made an important stop amid cheers from his teammates.

Blasters’ Second Objective

In the 88th minute, the Blasters increased their advantage. With little opposition from the opposing defense, Dimitrios Diamantakos made it 2-0. Shortly later, though, the Greek striker was sent off.

Late Penalty Conversion

In the ninth minute of extra time, East Bengal was given a penalty. Cleiton Silva was able to turn this into a chance to win it back for his squad.

Bengaluru FC rallied to tie Hyderabad FC in a different encounter after falling down 1-0.
