In an awful incident, an Egyptian guide and two Israeli visitors were shot and killed in Alexandria, Egypt. The killings have been confirmed by the Israeli foreign ministry, and another Israeli national was hurt in the attack that took place on a Sunday morning.

Overview Of  Egypt’s Incident

The shooting apparently occurred at Pompey’s Pillar, an old Roman landmark, where the attacker, who was identified only as a “local,” pulled his own gun and started shooting at a crowd of tourists. The attacker was soon apprehended by authorities

Details of the Shooting and Immediate Response

Social media videos showed an awful aftermath, with at least two people seen lying dead on the ground at the ancient site.

The Israeli foreign ministry has been collaborating with Egyptian authorities to facilitate the return of the deceased Israeli citizens to their home country.

Historical Background and Recent Escalations

The first Arab country to establish diplomatic ties with Israel was Egypt in 1979. However, many Egyptians are unhappy with Israel’s stance regarding the Palestinian issue. Near the border dividing the two nations, an Egyptian police recruit killed three Israeli troops in June. While Israel referred to it as a terrorist act, the accused country said that the incident took place during a firefight with soldiers hunting narcotics dealers.

Historical Diplomacy and Complex Dynamics

Israel’s National Security Council raised worries regarding the motives of terror groups and lone terrorists who might be targeting Israelis abroad in reaction to the Alexandria shooting and taking into account the current tensions.

The attack on the visitors has not yet been the subject of an official declaration from Egyptian officials. Since the country has frequently acted as a bridge between Israel and the Palestinians, the incident highlights the complex bond between both the countries.

The unfortunate fatalities took place as hostilities increased in the wake of the Hamas attack on Israel, and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issued a warning about a “vicious cycle of tensions” that endangers regional stability and security.

Israel’s National Security Council has warned its people to think twice before skipping international travel, especially if they live in the Middle East, in light of the incident. It has been advised for visitors who are already in the country to depart as quickly as possible.
