An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 jolts Southern California.

The magnitude-5.1 earthquake on Sunday alarmed residents of South California’s Ventura County, who had previously been bracing for Hurricane Hilary’s remnant, which at first had earlier brought hours of robust rain throughout the area’s most dry month of the year. There were several aftershocks.

The earthquake occurred approximately four miles southeast of Ojai City at 2:42 p.m.

Tremors were reported in many of the surrounding areas, namely Santa Barbara, Oxnard, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Malibu, Los Angeles, and other nearby places,

The Mayor of LA City reassured the residents and updated them on the event via a tweet on X, stating that the Los Angeles Fire Department is currently in Earthquake operation mode and that a strategic survey is set to be performed in each of the 106 neighborhood fire stations and
Lastly, there are no reports of structural harm or bodily injuries so far.
