Chandrayaan -3 Launched Successfully

India has achieved a significant milestone in its space exploration journey as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched Chandrayaan-3, the country’s third lunar mission. The spacecraft took off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, at 2:35 pm. The mission, with an estimated cost of 615 crores, aims to land near the Moon’s south pole after approximately 50 days of travel. The utilization of the LVM-3 launcher marks a crucial step towards India becoming the first nation to reach the Moon’s south pole. Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes, proclaiming that this momentous day would be etched in golden letters.

ISRO Chief S. Somnath emphasized the significance of the landing phase in the Chandrayaan-3 mission. He stated that the landing is a crucial step as it enables the collection of samples, exploration for potential human missions, and the establishment of moon bases. The successful landing will pave the way for further exploration and advancements in space research.

Congratulatory Messages Pour In

  1. The Australian High Commissioner in India extended his congratulations to India and ISRO on the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3. He highlighted the involvement of the Canberra Deep Space Network (DSN) in Australia, which is supporting communication for the mission.
  2. Renowned artist Sudarshan Patnaik, known for his exquisite sand art, expressed his best wishes for the Chandrayaan-3 mission in his signature style. He created a stunning sand art installation using 500 steel bowls at Puri Beach in Odisha, spreading the message of ‘Vijayi Bhava’ (May You Be Victorious). This 22-foot-long figure, crafted with 15 tons of sand, signifies the artist’s admiration for the mission’s objectives.
  3. Former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan also congratulated the ISRO team on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. He expressed optimism for the mission’s success and applauded the collective efforts of the team.
  4. Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, expressed his gratitude towards ISRO and Prime Minister Modi for their efforts in making Chandrayaan-3 possible. He commended the achievements of the mission and the pride it has brought to the nation. Similarly, Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya lauded the successful launch, emphasizing that every Indian takes immense pride in this extraordinary feat.

School children present at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota expressed their happiness and pride following the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3. One student remarked on the remarkable achievements of Indian scientists and the country as a whole, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Union Minister Jitendra Singh acknowledged the significant strides made by the Modi government, stating that India’s space program has evolved beyond rocket launches and positioned the nation as a global leader.

 

Mission Details and Future Plans

During a press conference, ISRO Chief S. Somnath provided insights into the Chandrayaan-3 mission. If all goes as planned, the spacecraft is expected to land on the Moon’s surface near the south pole on August 23, around 5:47 pm. The mission has undergone meticulous testing and preparation over the years to ensure its success. The entire process has been characterized by continuous learning, identifying and rectifying mistakes, and refining the mission’s objectives.
