Putin Praises India’s “Make in India” Initiative and Welcomes India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently praised India’s “Make in India” initiative and reaffirmed his admiration for the nation’s decisions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a speech at the 8th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF). Putin also hailed the construction of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) as one that would be advantageous to all involved.

“Make in India” Program Gains Recognition

President Putin emphasized the value of locally produced goods during his speech and praised India for its dedication to promoting the use of automobiles built in India. While Russian-made automobiles could appear less extravagant in comparison to luxury brands like Benz or Audi, he said, it is important to concentrate on promoting the home industry. Putin praised Prime Minister Modi for his commitment to the “Make in India” initiative, stating that he believes it to be a step in the right direction.

Support for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor

Particularly, this project had been discussed for a while prior to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed in New Delhi at the G20 Summit
