Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football player, had a bad night in the Saudi First Division when Al-Nassr lost to Al Hilal 3-0. Ronaldo’s team lost because of a goal that was disallowed for an apparent offside; the decision was made without consulting VAR.
The Dominance of Al Hilal
With the victory, Al Hilal took a commanding lead at the top of the rankings with 41 points, while Al-Nassr took second place with 34 points. Hilal’s domination was evident in the encounter, which strengthened their place in the league standings.
Following the game, supporters of Hilal used the occasion to jeer Ronaldo by yelling “Messi, Messi, Messi” as he made his way to the tunnel. Ronaldo is seen in a video waving at money and making signs that appear to be mocking VAR . Ronaldo spoke with someone at the tunnel entry despite the provocation.
League standings and scorers
Star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a brace (89′, 90+2′) after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic opened the score in the 64th minute. Despite playing without Brazil’s top player Neymar, Al Hilal’s performance cemented their lead in the league standings.
Ronaldo’s Mockery
The supporters that mocked Ronaldo’s influence on the game and eventually started screaming Messi’s name didn’t impact Ronaldo as much. The Manchester United icon, however, dismissed the jokes with a sarcastic smile and gave the supporters hugs as he left the field. Al Hilal continues to lead the Saudi Pro League with 41 points this season, trailing only Al Nassr (34) and Al Ahli Saudi (30).
