Shehbaz Sharif, the head of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), won 201 votes in the National Assembly to become Pakistan’s 24th prime minister. Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq delivered the remark, signalling a change in leadership in the country of South Asia.
Results of the Election: Shehbaz Sharif Secures a Majority of Votes
With 201 votes, Shehbaz Sharif’s electoral victory exceeded the necessary number for a majority in the 336-member National Assembly. In the parliamentary session, Omar Ayub Khan, the opponent of Imran Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), garnered 92 votes.

Shehbaz Sharif, the younger brother of Nawaz Sharif, the three-time past prime minister of Pakistan, hugged his older brother deeply after the announcement of his victory.
At the Presidential house, Aiwan-e-Sadr, the recently elected prime minister is scheduled to take the oath of office on March 4. Sharif’s official stint as the head of state will begin with this solemn event.
Prior to this, Sharif led a coalition government as prime minister from April 2022 until August 2023. The recent election was made possible by the need for general elections following the dissolution of Parliament.
