Bihar train tragedy

At the Raghunathpur railway station in the Buxar district of Bihar, three coaches of the North East Superfast train unexpectedly derailed, causing shockwaves to resonate throughout the region. When the tragedy happened, the train was traveling from Delhi’s Anand Vihar Terminal to Assam’s Kamakhya. It happened on Wednesday night at around 9:53 p.m. close to Raghunathpur station. Rescue services have been dispatched to the scene since it seems probable that several individuals were harmed.

Immediate Response

Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister of Bihar who is now visiting Kerala, spoke with the authorities in Buxar and gave them instructions to speed up the rescue operations. Mr. Yadav instructed the health department to offer the injured people all the assistance it could in his capacity as the state’s minister of health.

Ex-Gratia Declared By Bihar’s Chief Minister

Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, offered ex-gratia payments of 4 lakh to each deceased person’s family member as well as ₹50,000 to each injured person. This prompt action attempts to give the victims’ families immediate financial support.

Derailment investigation

The catastrophe that occurred on the North East Superfast train’s tracks led to a preliminary conclusion: a problem with the tracks. Six railroad authorities have supported a preliminary analysis that hypothesis that the crash may have been caused by problems with the tracks.

The disaster occurred at 9:52 p.m. while the train was passing Raghunathpur station as a result of a quick loss in brake pipe pressure brought on by an abrupt rear-end jolt and extreme vibrations. A high-level inquiry has been launched to probe deeper into the underlying causes and find ways to prevent similar mishaps in the future as a result of the terrible incident that has prompted questions about track maintenance and safety.

Loss of Life

Usha Bhandari, 33, and her child Aakriti Bhandari, 8, who were both residents of Tinsukia in Assam, have been named as the deceased people. Additionally, Narendra (70), whose identity is unknown, and Abu Zaid (68), a citizen of the Bihar district of Kishanganj, perished.

A quick response team from the East Central Railway (ECR) Danapur division have been sent to the mishap scene in response to the occurrence and is working hard to handle the situation.

Local governments, hospitals, and communities have banded together in the wake of such tragedy to assist the impacted passengers and their families.
