The creator of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight, said at the launch of his new BBC drama “The Town” that Cillian Murphy will be playing Tommy Shelby, his iconic character, in the future film adaptation of the popular British crime thriller. Birmingham World was informed by Knight of this wonderful news, which Variety reported.

Knight also disclosed that the Peaky Blinders movie will begin filming in September. Digbeth, which is situated near the show’s famous location, will serve as the backdrop for the project. Fans of Tommy Shelby who have been waiting impatiently for more of his narrative have been relieved and excited by Murphy’s proof of involvement.

Cillian Murphy’s Latest Achievement

Following his recent Oscar victory, Cillian Murphy makes his comeback as Tommy Shelby. For his performance as physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” the Irish actor won the Best Actor prize. This was Murphy’s first Oscar victory, and it capped off an incredible season of honors in which he also won BAFTA and the Golden Globe.
